The focus on the other promotional techniques can cost about $ 25,000 since an expert should be employed to develop specific strategies to attract more customers to the business because the companyââ¬â¢s employees often do not have the relevant expertise in the field. It is necessary to pay attention to the development of the management and marketing departments in order to use all the benefits expected from the implementation of the innovative technologies for supporting the services proposed by the company for the customers belonging to four different communities. That is why it is important not only to provide the detailed information about the advantages of using the call apps and call centers for the target audience but also to refer to the customersââ¬â¢ interests which can be different with the references to the definite communities or locations. The company-customer relations The company intends to maintain the customer records in relation to sales by phone, and the business can use a lot of information on the companyââ¬â¢s customers to modify the approach to selling services. In order to achieve the maximum from the customer look-in strategy as well as to focus on the reduction of hostile competition within the industry, the business orients to retaining details about each customerââ¬â¢s behaviors and attitudes to ensure that the services that they are given are satisfactory. The focus on feedbacks is relevant since the company is able to correct any minor mistakes that the customer can notice while attracting new customers to the company. These strategies can lead to the reduction in competition, the customer lock-in as well as to increasing the competitive advantage. The Operat ions Plan The first step is the selection of the four specific locations for placing the mobile and small car wash stations. The location of the companyââ¬â¢s car wash services centers is strategically important to guarantee the easy access of the customers to the provided services. The main aim of planning the effective location of services centers is to ensure that customers are in a position to have the services done by the company without seeking any external parties for assistance. The companyââ¬â¢s estimates to cover the rent payments are of $ 240,000 totally per annum as well as the expected material costs are of $120,000. The JAMA Company is a new competitor within the market, and a good strategic position and location with references to the car wash centers and call centers will guarantee the availability of the companyââ¬â¢s services. While analyzing the perspectives, it is essential to pay attention to the customersââ¬â¢ behavior, their needs, and to the price they prefer. The business can take advantage of the situation in order to reduce the time necessary for the product to be recognized within the market and be fully accepted by the customer. This approach can lead to the reduction in start-up costs, advertising and promotional costs. Thus, the companyââ¬â¢s management considers the choice of location as the focus on the strategically useful places to locate four different stations which services can contribute to the competition within the industry. The company intends to develop the 24-hour provision of the assistance and support for the customers with the help of call centers and modern call apps. The company tries to ensure that its services are available at any time, and it provides the friendly services to the customers. The company is oriented to establishing the balanced services provided to its clients. This approach will contribute to improving the companyââ¬â¢s image and its reputation among customers. The use of the call apps and developed call centers with the highly technological equipment will enable the company to enlarge the number of the sales representatives to react to the customersââ¬â¢ calls. The use of innovative technologies contributes to utilizing the full on-screen data on the customers and the services they want to be offered since the company intends to have four outlets or stations that will provide the equitable services to the customers in relation to their preferences. The company will have the full data on the customersââ¬â¢ needs so as to provide the satisfactory services. In this case, the implementation of call centers services and the use of call apps to support the four new stations in different locations are based on the use of top technologies and proper equipment. The next stage is the recruitment of the support team. The business intends to distribute jobs to persons in relation to their qualification, and the company ensures that each worker knows what is expected and what duties should be performed. New employees will be required to pass specific tests developed by the companyââ¬â¢s management team before beginning the recruitment process in the company because the business aims to hire quality workers. Figure 1 The company plans to have a steady growth rate in relation to the sales. This strategy will be attained with the focus on the latest technologies for providing services as well as with the concentration on guaranteeing the customer satisfaction in different regions in which the business will be operated. The number of clients expected during the first year of operation with the use of call centers and call apps will be increased with references to the implemented promotional strategy. The company plans to earn the revenue of $54,000 per annum from the cleaning department, $255,000 from the outside polishing, and $534,000 from the full polishing. The revenue from different departments would amount $843,000 per annum after the second year of operation with the new technologies. The Operating Costs It is also necessary to calculate the possible operating costs for the first year of providing the services in order to see the complex picture of the potential revenues and predict all the expenses and gains. The companyââ¬â¢s monthly expenses include expenses on salaries, fuels, material, and housing as well as on insurance and visa (Figure 2). Moreover, it is essential to predict the expenses on rents, advertising and promotional companies, the new equipment in call centers, and the use of call apps along with the specific phone equipment for the support teams. Figure 2 The detailed analysis presents some favorable trends in sales forecasting and, as a result, such other factors as the intensive capital rationing as well as the effects of inflation might inhibit the achievement of the estimates. Some measures have been undertaken to minimize the adverse effects of those externalities. The management team believes that the only factor that inhibits attainment of this budget analysis is the effective financial plan. All the other factors contributing to the achievement of this forecasting hav e been fully incorporated, and the companyââ¬â¢s management team considers that as soon as the financial plan is developed, the business can have no other focus than the orientation to the high returns. The sales projection aims at ensuring that the fixed cost should be preserved at the minimal level since the changes can affect the break-even point. The company is a new competitor within the industry, and the high fixed costs as start-up costs accentuate the possible downfall in business and that is why it is important to provide the realistic forecasting that incorporates all the elements of the financial forecasting while constructing and analyzing potential estimates. The Break-Even Point In order to propose some assumptions of the financial development of the company, it is necessary to calculate the break-even point according to which the companyââ¬â¢s expenses and profits are equal (Figure 3). Figure 3 The focus on the situation when there are no financial losses or ga ins in relation to revenues is necessary to forecast the potential profits in the future. The JAMA Company can earn no profit or loss when it reaches a break-even point with references to spending $ 33.97 per unit of services provided as it is calculated below. Contribution margin per unit total contribution /No. of unit produced. Contribution margin per unit (2,085,000 / 2035) = 1024.57 Break even point = (total fixed / contribution margin per unit) Break even point = $ 34, 800 / $ 1024.57= $ 33.97 This point is regarded as a stable point at which the company will signifying that the liquidity position of the business can be rather high in relation to the low ratio. The break-even point can be achieved within a reasonable time, accentuating the useful income statement projection. The statement of the companyââ¬â¢s financial position, as well as the aspects of the cash flow, can depict a positive trend, and the strong capital base can be enhanced since the margins of safety will be low, and the company will focus on the proper stock management in order to guarantee the constant supply of material as well as the provision of services to the customer. The poor inventory system would make the company to have a bad reputation with the customer. Return on Investment The company can also achieve 24% return on investment with references to the stated net profit after calculating taxes and with references to the total assets. Thus, the company intends to use the funding from external sources as well as from their sources which is worth 15% of the total value of the initial capital required and seeking 85% from the outside funding. Business Control Quality Control The companyââ¬â¢s workers need to have the necessary high skills and expertise in field of support and providing the car wash services. The JAMA company intends to use the specific software to manage investigation on the personnelââ¬â¢s effectiveness in order to control the quality of the services pr ovided. This approach can guarantee that all the received calls with the help of call apps are dealt with in the similar manner and with references to the ethical code of conduct developed for the company since the customers require the high-quality and professional services. We are going to ensure that the customers are encouraged to give feedback on the received services in relation to whether the company is able to deliver the services on time as well as whether the services which are offered to them meet the expectations, and whether the improvements should be implemented. Thus, the management, quality assurance, and sale departments control the companyââ¬â¢s performance and focus on the customersââ¬â¢ reaction as well as on the areas which should be improved regarding the information on the productivity. Ensuring that the active cooperation exists between the company and the public living in the community, it is necessary to refer to the concept of the corporate social re sponsibility which contributes to building the effective business reputation. As a result, more clients will be attracted to the business. The employment of the well-trained and competent workers can also lead to the improved efficiency and to the increased production because the management team believes that a competent worker can understand the role of high-quality services in the business as well as the business goals and objectives. Thus, the company will provide the high-quality products and services along with offering the competitive and rather affordable price for customers. This approach to the promotional strategy can make more clients visit the companyââ¬â¢s stations and service centers. Accounting Systems The company will concentrate on using the latest accounting software in business in order to manage the company financial system. This software is effective to check on the sales performance as well as promotional activities frequently. This process will enable the m anagement team to assess the productivity in relation to the observed revenues received by different stations located in different places. The JAMA Company provides the payment to workers basing on the performance reports and contracts, and it will be easy to assess the employeesââ¬â¢ performance and to ascertain the employees who achieve the higher performance results. Long-Term Goals The companyââ¬â¢s commercial purpose is to operate above or close to the break-even point at the end of the financial period with a steady growth rate during the next three years. The company focuses becoming profitable after the three months of the business operation depending on new technologies, four new stations, call centers, and on the use of call apps to receive and send the orders and feedbacks. The company orients to the net profit of at least $320,000 per annum with the profit margin being higher than 8% after three years from developing the business. Opportunities and Risks Today, the company provides three basic services, which are normal cleaning, outside polishing, and full polishing. The company will expect to diversify its business operations and services provided as well as to expand the services in relation to the work of the support team with the help of call centers established to support the work of four new small stations located in different regions of the country. The JAMA Company also plans to implement the superior service content as well as the additional investing in other ventures while ensuring the work of the effective and updated database management systems. This procedures and approaches will lead to improved client loyalty as well as to increasing the competitive advantage. The threats for the companyââ¬â¢s development and operation within the market depend on the ineffective strategies used by the management tea m when the team tries to implement specific mechanisms to ensure that the company remains active in the market and within the industry. It is important to cope with the competitors within the industry while providing unique and superior products and services to the clients available with references to comparably low prices. Conclusion The mission of the JAMA Company is to become the principal service supplier of car wash services. The company is devoted to creating a binding association with its clientele with providing the excellent services as well as the adequate customer support with the help of call apps and call center services. These factors are important because customers are inclined to choose car wash service centers, which can guarantee the provision of the top quality services in relation to cleaning and polishing cars. That is why the companyââ¬â¢s strategic goals and objectives are to achieve the rapid growth and to become profitable during the third month of provid ing operations. The Effects of Brand Management (Global and Domestic) on the Internet - Research Paper Example This paper illustrates that the activity of brand management is equally important for both domestic and global brands as the prime objective of every organization, whether operating nationally or internationally, is similar, i.e. to increase profit margin through sales. Hence, in order to fulfill this aim, every organization attempts to offer high concentration over the concept of branding of products. Branding also improves the position of a particular product thereby improving its sustainability in future times. Besides, in this era of modernization and industrialization, the process of brand management, both in case of domestic and global concept, has developed as quite easier being restructured. Majorly, this is due to emergence of Information Technology (IT) which has eased the process of marketing of the products and /or services. Moreover, introduction of IT enhanced the passion of the Internet which offered a considerable impact on brand management in todayââ¬â¢s context. Hence, it can be affirmed that introduction of Internet services has not only augmented the brand portfolio of business concerns but has also alleviated the efficiency of a product both in domestic and global scenario. Riezebos, Rizebos, Kist, and Kootstra describe brand management as the process which offers a detailed perception about a particular brand of an enterprise. Brand management is an art of performing various research processes in order to introduce inventive features in the brand. The main objective behind this type of procedure is to offer innovative products along with modern facets and thus retain its position in this competitive market. In addition, with the help of branding, brand equity along with customer tastes and preferences can also be analyzed in an effective way. Discuss ethical considerations related to research studies at the cognitive level of analysis Essay Example for Free
Discuss ethical considerations related to research studies at the cognitive level of analysis Essay Discuss ethical considerations related to research studies at the cognitive level of analysis There are plenty of ethical considerations connected to research studies at the SCLOA, for example the right to withdraw, deception, knowledgeable agreement and excessive stress or harm. For example, Festingerââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"When Prophecy Failsâ⬠observation of a doomsday cult has ethical invasions of deception as well as knowledgeable agreement. Festinger and his group of researchers invade a doomsday cult that thought that the world would come to an end on December 21st and aimed to see how they would react when it wouldnââ¬â¢t end. By pretending to be one of them, Festinger violated the ethical thought of asking for their authorization and consequently, since it was a secret observation, he also cheated them. They were incredibly upset when he said who he really was; to be an undercover researcher. It is most likely that Festinger would not have been able to earn a full understanding of the cultââ¬â¢s behaviour and how it played into the social recognise theory if he had not cheated them, as he was observing them on their normal day without any effects influencing their behaviour. However, he cheated on ethics. This is a matter with other observations at this level of analysis as being secret that tricks them and is unethical if they arenââ¬â¢t in a public place, during undisguised influences their natural behaviour that is precisely what you are trying to study. Milgramââ¬â¢s study on peopleââ¬â¢s willingness to do authority also is an invasion of ethics in terms of cheating, but also with excessive stress or harm and even the right to withdraw. Members that participated were asked to ask a number of questions to someone they were only able to hear and to give a number of electric shocks every time the other person, who was normally only a tape recording, would give an answer to the question incorrectly. The voltage of the shock would be increased per incorrect answer. Although the members thatà participated delivering the shocks werenââ¬â¢t able to actually hurt someone, they still became more and more stressed every time the person on the reco rding would sound more hurt or even stop saying something. The whole point of this experiment was to be able to see how far someone would go when carry out authority so some people, when forced by a calm researcher, would deliver shocks that were marked as lethal. When the experiment was over, the people who had done it all the way to the strongest shocks were questioned and told that they hadnââ¬â¢t actually harmed anyone. Nonetheless, they were still tricked and were stressed by the cries of pain or silence that showed that the person was dead. Moreover, the long-term effects of this study on the members that participated, is that they know that they are capable of hurting someone or even killing them, which may traumatize them. Nonetheless, the experiment was controlled, and so was artificial and lacked ecological acceptance. Also, it was done on other people who had sound like they had mental health problems, so this experiment can be easily generalized and used for the SCLOA as it studies how others influence oneââ¬â¢s behaviour. As mentioned before, however, Milgram had some problems with the right to pull back, which Zimbardoââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Prison Studyâ⬠also had. Milgram made it able for people to leave if they became uncomfortable; nonetheless, his aim for this study made him to become more uncertain and made them continuously to stay. This is not the case with Zimbardoââ¬â¢s study. In his study, he randomly chose mentally healthy members that participated to the role of a prison guard or a prisoner to search the role of dispositional and situational factors in behaviour. Nonetheless, over the course of this study, Zimbardo and his members that participated became so involved in their roles that they were made to that not only the prisoners were humiliated, physically punished and felt violated and in danger, at some moments they were forcedly undressed and given a piece of clothing that covered little of their private parts; however, they werenââ¬â¢t able to be let out of the study. Only one member that participated with the role of a prisoner was released because of a severe state, but the others members that participated who screamed and cried to be released, couldnââ¬â¢t be released. On top of the excessive stress and harm inflicted on the prisoners and à guards, who might have been traumatized by their actions during this study, none of them could leave the experiment. The researcher was not Zimbardo himself, he became absorbed in his own role as the prison officer, and consequently he is biased when analysing his own study. Overall, this was an unethical study, even though; fortunately the members that participated were questioned and offered psychological counselling because of the long-term effects. It is obvious that deception, knowledgeable agreement, the right to withdraw and undue excessive stress or harm are ethical considerations at the SCLOA. It is frequently hard to keep away of such ethical violations at this level, though, as in order to study someones behaviour and how we are influenced by others in their natural state, the existence of a researcher may affect this behaviour. Therefore, questioning is important in sensitive ethically risky studies such as Festingerââ¬â¢s, Milgramââ¬â¢s and Zimbardoââ¬â¢s studies. However, when studying someoneââ¬â¢s behaviour, a researcher must stay a secret, for example, not becoming affected by the group, and keep paying attention to the rights of the members that participate; being denied the right to withdraw has no excuse.

The Wicked Character Medea in Euripides Medea Essay -- Euripides Mede
The Wicked Character Medea in Euripides' Medea The character Medea is disliked by many that read Euripides' Medea. She is not really given much of a chance. It is difficult to read the tragedy without having negative feelings towards the main character. Some readers are content to just hate Medea, while others want to know what would compel a mother to come to be able to commit these crimes. Sara Warner writes, "Transgression must be built into any system in order for it to survive. For example, patriarchy, for lack of a better word, could not and would not exist if it simply operated on the brutal oppression and domination of the female sex" (Warner p. 159). Transgression is defined as an act, process, or instance of transgressing: as an infringement or violation of a law, command, or duty by Merriam-Webster. Roget's II The New Thesaurus says transgression is a wicked act. Medea's transgressions were all wicked acts. Media Literacy Essay
Literacy gives us minorities the ability to read and write. Today, we get most our information through an interwoven system of media technologies. The ability to read many types of media has become an essential skill in the 21st Century. Media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media. I came up with this topic because Media literate youth and adults all over America to better understand the complex messages we receive from television, radio, Internet, newspapers, magazines, books, billboards, video games, music, and all other forms of media.Media can present content that seems and is more or less real, however, it is our duty as the viewers to be able to distinguish, and differentiate between ââ¬Å"reflections of reality, and constructions of realityâ⬠. The prime targets of the media are young people because they so unwittingly believe everything the media tells them, from ââ¬Å"how to talk, how to dress, and how to relate to othersâ⬠. Media literacy skills are included in the educational standards of every state in language arts, social studies, health, science, and other subjects. My potential strength is giving my audience various types of important effects of global media literacy such as education ,health related issues, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, body image, obesity, sex distractions , lack of knowledge and all types of sports that does and does not effects our globalization. I researched and found out many researchers have discovered that media literacy is an effective and engaging way to apply critical thinking skills to a wide range of issues. My main Importance I want my audience to know about media literacy, according to Edward Donnerstein who is a major research interests in mass-media violence, as well as mass media policy. He has published over 240 scientific articles in these general areas and serves on the editorial boards of a number of academic journals in both psychology and communication. Donnerstein States that in his book â⬠Media literacy skills can help youth and adults by developing critical thinking skills, Understanding how media messages shape our culture and society ,recognize, bias, spin ,misinformation, lies and also evaluate media messages based on our own experiences, skills, beliefs, and values. â⬠I learned from Donnerstein that this project with media literacy fit within the existing globalization because media literacy is a delicate issue that has some good and bad effects on everyone in todayââ¬â¢s society. For example, Communication has become a major tool to connect if we want to travel to Africa or learnà about Australia information is at our fingertips .We can text someone instantly and get a response back from Russia immediately. We can call someone over Skype in India and talk for free on our computer for as long as we want. Not to mention Facebook and Twitter which have become the most popular social networking tools on the worl d. My study according to Cole VT 2006, an article on television and obesity talks about how the media has strong influence over public thought because of the universal demand of the media, because of the accessibility of media it becomes more influential to those who watch it and the viewers who believe the ideas and stereotypes portrayed through the media; nevertheless, they become the individuals who become influenced by the media. The media demonstrates the ability to create and influence those who watch television; however, one particular group that the media has targeted is children. Television and internet has allowed for the expansion of knowledge to expand globally, but also has the ability to corrupt the mind of the youth. Cole gives us audience a quote statingâ⬠The expansion of knowledge is spreading and so is the waist size of the American youthâ⬠. It has been established that television, internet and social medial allows for children to become educated through these conventional outlets; however children should be limited to a minimal amount of television because there is correlation between excessive television, internet and an increase in BMI, which has been linked towards the causes of obesity in children. Obesity effect childrenââ¬â¢s who consume a significant am out of television such as erratic behavior, less active in physical activity, deprivation of sleep, mood swings, Increase in laziness, and increase in weight again which consents of obesity. According to Kong JP, in 2010 his Journal of Society for development in new net environment in B&H. ââ¬Å"children who watch up to three hours of television on average, watching up to at least 40,000 TV commercial per year and developing a favorite television show or program that retains their attention. Based on the fact these impacts can lead to a significant decline in health and overall performance of children. If these bad habits remain continuance this could lead to an unhealthy life and unhealthy habits, which can ultimately be fatalâ⬠. However, we parents need to set a good example, because they are role models for their child, and the behavior that children have is usually a replica of the parents. Some parents allow for children to be consumed by television, while theyà gallivant in their own activities instead of spending time with their child. By allowing a child to consistently watch television instead of being active in a physical activity can result in the child becoming lazy. It is important to encourage your child to do other activities outside of watching television, so itââ¬â¢s good not to invest all your time on television and find an outside source for entertainment. For instance, if a child asks to play with their mom or dad and the mom tell their child I do not have time, go watch television. Ultimately, the child will begin to rely on the television as there daily activity. It is imperative as a parent that you find quality time to spend with your child and that quality time should be spent awa y from the television. My Methodology of data I collected throughout a quantitative and qualitative research study is that I gain from Elsevier Health Sciences that it is imperative to understand that childhood obesity is at all-time high, and as the years increase so does the sizes of the American children. If children are going to is watching a significant amount of television and internet daily there should be other alternatives and activities provided in place of the television. For instance, for every amount of television or technology being used will result in the same amount of time spent actively engaging in an activity that does not require you to sit in front of the television or , or iPad, Xbox 360 and etc. Also, it is recommended that a maximum of two hours should be spent watching these technologies. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (2001), it is recommended in order to help reduce the amount of television and internet being consumed is to not watch television or use technologies while eating meals, remove all televisions from blatant/obvious places in the houses, such as the living room. There should be no television located in the childrenââ¬â¢s room because children will stay up all night with their eyes fixated at the television or technologies. Also, itââ¬â¢s good to implement days without television and to plan family activities that allow to children engage actively. By limiting the amount of hours spent on television and internet can help reduce the risk of children becoming obese and allow for them to find other activities that can be beneficial to their growth and allow for them to live a healthy life. Childrenââ¬â¢s greatest exposure to violence comes from television. TV shows, movies edited for television, and video games expose young children to a level of violence unimaginable just aà few years ago. According to Salmon J, Campbell KJ, Crawford DA states in their Journal of Society for development in new net environment in B&H that majority of teenagers and children today know the underlying themes of the media, and know that it is all scripted even the violence, however, the matter of fact is that teenagers can relate so much to the themes in the media that they slowly begin to believe it. Once they get introduced to the characters, they gradually start to consider them real and starts to partipate in bad behavior Cambell states in his journal that ââ¬Å"our community in todayââ¬â¢s society face many obstacles with our youth and the media that is destroying the foundation of familyââ¬â¢s and juvenile delinquency. For example, social learning theory, strain theory and control theory, just to name a few, are typically postulated for being directly related our media juvenile delinquency. In dealing with all of these effects and how they play a role with delinquency the question still remains as to whether or not higher crime rates in juveniles are significantly increased when media plays a big factorâ⬠. The media has the ability to influence social constructed ideas and creating stratification amongst minorities and ethnic groups allowing for the uses of the television and social media outlets to become addicting. As a result of this addiction it enable individuals such as children to become or remain fixated on these primitive idea of life. And because of this strong addiction towards being entertained it is important to stay tuned to the media and the most up to date gossip or the newest television show. However, According to Tracy Marie Scull who is The National Association for Media Literacy Educationââ¬â¢s Journal of Media Literacy Education talks about sex in her article she states,â⬠During adolescence, young people are exposed to information about sex from a myriad of sources including mass media Adolescents frequently cite mass media as a primary source of information about sex (Sutton et al. 2002). Somewhat surprisingly, the media far outrank parents or schools as a source of information about birth control for 15-19-year-olds .In fact, young teens (ages 13-15) rank entertainment media as their top source for information about sexuality and sexual health. Unfortunately, while the media are communicating a plethora of sexual messages, many of those messages would not be considered accurate or healthy. For example, while the amount of sexual content on TV has nearly doubled since 1997 very few teen television shows mention any of theà responsibilities or risks (e.g., using contraception, pregnancy, STIs) associated with sex and almost none of the shows with sexual content include precaution, prevention, or negative outcomes as the primary themeâ⬠.

Risk of infectious diseases at a rise due to incessant rain
A few days after ceaseless rain lashed the regions in Thane and stranded some localities, the risk of infectious diseases stares large at the residents. With a massive dumping ground right in front of the railways station at Vithalwadi and a sewer flowing in the rear, it seems like an open invitation to the various diseases, which increases manifold during monsoon. Khadegolwadi, which saw knee- deep waters on Friday could not unclog, though the water receded by a few centimetres. As it is a fully grown residential area, people spent their entire day cleaning their homes. Chocked drains, sewers and dumping grounds caused problems in the area. ââ¬Å"Each time it rains, garbage along with diseases come to our house,â⬠said Aarti Bhagwat, a resident. Her neighbour Preeti Pandey added,â⬠We all know what sewers and dumping grounds in the vicinity means, malaria, dengue and other water borne diseases.â⬠It may be noted that the Thane Municipal Corporation suspended an officer and recommended departmental enquiry against the other finding them a prima facia guilty of the problem. Complaining over that, another resident Sarita Kolhapure said,â⬠suspending officials is of no use to us, it does not solve our problem. These past few days were pathetic for us, what will happen if such rain continues for next couple of months. â⬠Similar problems persisted in different localities around the dumping site.ââ¬Å"Garbage that flew with the rain got scattered all around as the potholed road was filled with dirty water,â⬠said Karishma Tiwari, a housewife. City-based doctors warned against the risk of diseases in the rainy season. ââ¬Å"People with a weak immune system fall prey to microbes that roam freely in the air during monsoon,â⬠said Dr Kishor Gandecha. He added that garbage heaps rot more than usual in rains, which catalyses growth of disease causing virus and bacteria.ââ¬Å"The best way to avoid disease is to wash hands with soap and drink boiled water,â⬠he said. Suggesting other ways to keep diseases at bay, the doctors said, ââ¬Å"People should avoid intake of stale or cut food, don't let water stagnate inside or near the homes and stay away from public places if one is suffering with viral fever of disease. They also enumerated signs of disease which include body ache, vomiting, pain in abdomen and loose motions are the first signs of the monsoon maladies. But, there are a number of measures that people can resort toâ⬠.

Free Essays on Washington Irving
Irving, Washington (1783-1859), American writer, the first American author to achieve international renown, who created the fictional characters Rip Van Winkle and Ichabod Crane. The critical acceptance and enduring popularity of Irving's tales involving these characters proved the effectiveness of the short story as an American literary form. Born in New York City, Irving studied law at private schools. After serving in several law offices and traveling in Europe for his health from 1804 to 1806, he was eventually admitted to the bar in 1806. His interest in the law was neither deep nor long-lasting, however, and Irving began to contribute satirical essays and sketches to New York newspapers as early as 1802. A group of these pieces, written from 1802 to 1803 and collected under the title Letters of Jonathan Oldstyle, Gent., won Irving his earliest literary recognition. From 1807 to 1808 he was the leading figure in a social group that included his brothers William Irving and Peter Irving and William's brother-in-law James Kirke Paulding; together they wrote Salmagundi, or, the Whim-Whams and Opinions of Launcelot Langstaff, Esq., and Others, a series of satirical essays and poems on New York society. He embarked on this journey because of his parentsââ¬â¢ concern for his health, and to complete his education. His trip was short but well accomplished, learning many things, which helped benefit his writing future. He traveled back to the states and realized that his trip was well worth the time and effort. Irving made one of the most life changing decisions in his life by traveling back to Europe, he decided not only this but also to start an import/export business. Successful, he was not. The business went bankrupt shortly after. Irving then decided to improve his writing knowledge and ability by traveling abroad Europe. In the process of trying to gain great knowledge on many of things he received horrifying news, shortly before his 24th birthday, that his mother died. Irving thought and grieved upon this and decided that it would be best if he stayed in Europe. This greatly impacted his knowledge of writing an d what he was going to write about. The death of Washington Irvingââ¬â¢s mother made him convinced he needed to stay in Europe, greatly influencing one of his most famous writings, Rip Van Winkle. (Hill 482-483) Irving lived among a family who was of much literary prestige. He gained only a fragment of necessary education, receiving what little he had in male seminaries. However, he completed his education on his own well before the age of sixteen. He was sent by his parents to explore in the wilderness at an early age. He explored the countryside of Old Dutch New York and The Catskills Mountain. He studied law privately, but did so only briefly. 10 Best Proposal Examples [With Critical Critiques]
10 Best Proposal Examples [With Critical Critiques] Earning more business starts most often with an effective proposal. Preparing a winning proposal means writing for the client and providing a clear, valuable solution to their problem. For every Request for Proposal (RFP), there are good and bad proposals. To understand how to improve your submissions, we have reviewed ten great examples. These examples are prepared by proposal software companies. All are free to view without registration. In this article, we will review these examples highlighting both the best practices used and common mistakes to avoid. If you are looking to create a winning business proposal for your company we suggest taking our proposal writing training course. 1. Digital Marketing Proposal This proposal is effective because it provides a clear, specific solution to the clientââ¬â¢s problems. It opens with a value-oriented executive summary. The scope of services provides brief but informative summaries of the offered services. The very first paragraph states the specific benefits to the client. ââ¬Å"... we are confident we can significantly increase your site traffic, customer engagement, and on-site conversions.â⬠The timeline and the budget, persuasively phrased as ââ¬ËYour Investmentââ¬â¢ are straightforward and easy for the client to understand and decide upon. The case study placement is a bit distracting, as it could be included near the end with the About Us section. 2. Financial Services Proposal The flow and content of this proposal are strong, with one significant exception: the About Us section. While the About Us and Team sections do add value, the client is most interested in the solution. If the solution is appropriate, then the people behind it are the next consideration. The first-page executive summary should be a convincing and specific overview for the reader. This section along with proposed service details, timelines and budget are read in depth. The About Us sections are simply skimmed. Whether using a software or your companyââ¬â¢s template, present the client with the most important information first. Make it easy for the client to understand and see the value in your company's proposal. 3. Web Design Proposal This document clearly outlines the process for implementing the proposed services. The financials are broken down so the client can understand unit, hourly, and subscription costs. However, the About Us and Team sections come just after the introduction. Ensure the solution sections come first. 4. Engineering Services Proposal Here, the Project Background sections clearly outline the work process for the client. Each task is clarified and seems to respond to specifications of an RFP. Using client specifications to prepare a proposal makes it easier for the reader to understand how your solution directly solves their problem. This section is strong and should come just after the executive summary. However, the introductory summary should include more persuasive and specific language. As noted previously the Introduction and Team sections should fall towards the end of the proposal. Always lead with the benefit to the client. Itââ¬â¢s not about your business. The focus should be how your business can help the client. 5. CRM Implementation Proposal The introduction or executive summary uses convincing language and bullet points to highlight the value. It could be improved by shifting the language from general CRM best practices to how the company can specifically offer them based on this proposal. Again, the About Us section should come after the proposal benefit-to-client details. 6. Freelance Writing Proposal A sleek web-based proposal that includes specific offerings and clarification of the value. The Introductory letter and Executive Summary have strong, persuasive elements that refer to specific client needs. These two elements could be combined to strengthen the first section. Again, the About Me should be presented after the solution.7. Insurance Services Proposal A brief proposal that covers a range of offerings. Nice overall use of white-space to allow the reader to skim and find the important information. The lengthy paragraphs could be shortened to increase readability and add to the white-space. Remember what we said about About Us? 8. Interior Design Proposal A visually compelling document suited for the industry. Bumping up the Project Showcase section would improve proposal flow.9. Graphic Design Proposal A simple but effective proposal. The introduction focuses on client needs (and would be more specific in a real-world document). Credentials, Testimonials, Selected Works should come after the Project Summary. 10. Project Management Proposal A thorough, understandable proposal that breaks down the process and pricing. The content highlights the companyââ¬â¢s knowledge of client needs and their value proposition. However, the executive summary leaves much to be desired. Every sentence should be persuasive and specific, whereas this text is uninspiring and unclear. Conclusion Your proposal is your direct chance to win new business. Keep the client in mind in each step of proposal preparation. This strategy may mean revamping existing templates or starting fresh. Take the best parts of these examples, avoid the mistakes, and put your best foot forward to help the client.

Harrison Bergeron and V For Vendetta Analysis Essay
Harrison Bergeron and V For Vendetta Analysis - Essay Example In such kind of societies, it is seen that the government is to be feared by the people: it has both the authority and the armed forces to enforce its will upon the people. But McTeigue has other ideas, declaring that ââ¬Å"people should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people,â⬠emphasizing the concept of freedom over oppression. In this case, the researcher would try to expound the statement of McTeige through two outstanding literary pieces: the short story ââ¬Å"Harrison Bergeronâ⬠(Vonnegut Jr. n. p.) and McTeigueââ¬â¢s film ââ¬Å"V for Vendetta.â⬠The short story ââ¬Å"Harrison Bergeron,â⬠which was written by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., tries to picture a society with absolute equality, wherein people are actually equal in all concepts (Vonnegut Jr. n. p.). As stated in the story, The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They werenââ¬â¢t only equal before God and the law; they were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else; nobody was better looking than anybody else; nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General. (Vonnegut Jr. n. p.) In able to ensure that all people was absolutely equal, the government actually created the office of the ââ¬Å"United States Handicapper General,â⬠wherein the intelligent would be handicapped by a loud noise distracting them (resulting to the fact that all people would be ââ¬Å"averagely intelligent), athletic people would have to wear weights in order to be as fast and as athletic as normal people, and where beautiful people would have to wear masks (Vonnegut Jr. n. p.). Due to such handicaps, society actually resulted to a collection of individuals who are absolutely equal in every way, all of them stupid, dumb, and following authority without question (Vonnegut Jr. n. p.). This short story, which actually serves as a political satire, shows how the aim of governments to ensure absolute equality actually harms the natural differences of people, and how it both oppresses the rights of individuals to be who they are, harming the welfare of society as a whole. From this message, it can be seen that the freedom of individuals over oppression must be upheld, for it does not only benefit the welfare of the people, but the welfare and well-being of society as a whole. While Kurt Vonnegut Jr. used a satirical narrative to describe how oppression harms the well being of society and makes it dysfunctional, Director James McTeigue opted to use a different way to show why freedom must reign supreme over oppression, and why governments must be afraid of the people: he used the movie ââ¬Å"V for Vendettaâ⬠(McTeigue, n. p.). This movie actually talks about the time when the government of Britain comes to be dominated by the fascist â⬠Å"Norsefire Party,â⬠turning Britain into a totalitarian state (McTeigue, n. p.). As the Norsefire Party takes power and gains hold of the parliament (following the bioterrorist attacks that will claim
